The agreement that applies when you use CiteReal

Effective date: 5 October 2026. These terms apply to citereal.ai ("CiteReal", "we"). By using the site you agree to them.
CiteReal checks references against public scholarly databases and finds papers related to a claim. It reports what those databases contain. It does not read the papers, and it does not decide whether a paper is a good source for your argument. You remain responsible for every citation you submit, publish or hand in.
A "Verified" label means the reference matched a database record on the fields we compare. A "Not found" label means we could not find such a record; the paper may still exist in a source we do not index. Treat results as evidence to review, not as a final judgement.
You must be at least 16 to create an account. Keep your sign-in method secure; activity under your account is your responsibility. You may delete your account at any time from the settings pages.
Do not use CiteReal to overload the scholarly databases it relies on, to scrape results at scale, to circumvent the free quota, or to upload content you have no right to process. We may rate-limit or suspend accounts that do.
You keep all rights to the text and documents you submit. You grant us permission to process them to produce your results and, if you are signed in, to store them in your history until you delete them. We do not use your content to train models.
Credits are consumed when a check or search completes; a run that returns no result is not charged. Purchased credit packs do not expire unless stated at purchase. Plan credits renew on the plan schedule. Prices, included credits and payment methods are shown at checkout, and payments are processed by Stripe under its terms.
Refunds follow the Refund Policy shown at checkout. Unused credits from a cancelled subscription remain available until the end of the paid period.
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and we may change or discontinue features. The scholarly databases and language-model providers we depend on may change their data or availability without notice.
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for academic, professional or financial consequences of relying on a result, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
